4THE22

4THE22 is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization, that works to, not only raise awareness of veteran and first responder suicide rates but more importantly, to provide solutions. They help veterans find balance and purpose through the therapeutic activities of standup paddling, surfing, and exercise. They cultivate community and camaraderie through all of their activities, to help our veterans transition smoothly into civilian life and to allow both veterans and first responders to look beyond their challenges and achieve their full potential.

Obstacle

During the COVID-19 pandemic, 4THE22 saw a significant increase in involvement by organizing a Memorial Day challenge that encouraged people to get active, win prizes and raise awareness about veteran suicide. However, they struggled with information hierarchy on their website, making it difficult for participants to understand the challenge logistics, sign-up process, and access the active scoreboard. Additionally, they lacked visual representation to showcase the impact of their mission, which, despite being compelling, remained unclear to the audience. They wanted to create a strong brand and messaging in order to continue to build momentum for the challenge moving forward.

Solution

To address visibility and recognition issues, we redesigned the website with a clear, intuitive layout and interactive features for easy navigation and participant tracking. Photography and videos were used to showcase the organization's mission and successes. We also created branded social media graphics to highlight key aspects of the challenge and maintain a consistent visual identity. This approach ensured the mission was clearly communicated, to increase engagement and highlight the impact of the organization’s work.
